Make something with AI, and give credit

AI can help you make stories, comics, songs and project ideas. Stay the creator, be honest, and never use it to hurt people.

1/5
In simple words
A cricket bat helps you hit the ball, but you still have to play the shot. AI can be a creative tool like that. The ideas, choices and heart should still come from you.

Things you can make

  • Stories: ask for 5 "what if" ideas, then write your own story
  • Comics: plan the panels yourself, maybe use AI for background ideas
  • Songs and poems: ask for words that rhyme with "Holi", then write your own lines
  • Science projects: ask for project ideas for your age, then choose and do the experiment yourself (with an adult for safety)
Note
Many AI tools are only for ages 13 and up. Make things together with a parent or teacher if you are younger.

You stay the creator

AI is the creator
  • "Write me a story", then hand it in as yours
  • Using the first answer without changes
  • Hiding that AI helped
You are the creator
  • Using AI for ideas, then writing it yourself
  • Choosing, changing and adding your own touch
  • Saying honestly how AI helped

Give credit

Be honest when AI helped. A simple line works: "I used an AI tool to get ideas for the title and check my spelling." For school, follow your teacher's rules. And if you use someone else's drawing, music or writing, say whose it is.

A big rule: no fake images of real people

Danger
Never use AI to make fake pictures, videos or voices of real people, like classmates, teachers or neighbours, even as a joke. It can embarrass and deeply hurt them, it spreads fast, and it can be against the law.
If someone shares a fake picture of a classmate, don't forward it. Tell a teacher or trusted adult.
Try this. Make a short comic or poem where AI gives you 3 ideas and you do everything else. Add a credit line at the bottom.

Lab

A small creation (poem, comic or story) with an honest credit line.

~15 min

The problem

Do this with a parent or teacher if you use an AI tool, or do it on paper with your own ideas.

  1. Choose: a short poem, a 4-panel comic, or a half-page story about a festival, a cricket match or your school.
  2. If you use AI, ask it only for 3 ideas. Choose one and make everything else yourself.
  3. Change at least 2 things so it becomes truly yours.
  4. Write a credit line at the bottom saying exactly how AI helped (or "no AI used").

Hard questions

Try to answer before you reveal. If you can answer these, you understood the lesson.

Q1Why is being honest about AI help important, even if no one would find out?Reveal

Honesty builds trust with your teachers, friends and family. It also helps you see what you can really do on your own. If people later find out you hid it, they may doubt all your work, even the parts you did yourself.

Q2Why can a fake picture of a real person cause harm even after it's deleted?Reveal

Once shared, it can be copied and saved by others, so it may keep spreading. The person may feel embarrassed or scared for a long time. That's why the best rule is never to make or share such fakes at all.

Questions people ask

If AI made it, is it still my work?

It depends on how much you did. If you only typed one sentence and copied the result, it's mostly AI's work. If you planned, chose, changed and added your own ideas, it's much more yours. Be honest either way.

Is it OK to make AI pictures of my favourite cricketer or actor?

Be very careful. Making fake pictures of real people can mislead others or hurt the person. Fun, clearly made-up characters are a much safer choice.

Can AI copy other artists' styles?

Some tools can imitate styles, and many artists are unhappy about it. Respect creators: don't pretend your work is theirs, and give credit when you are inspired by someone.
